We started in the Web design business back in 1998 under the banner of HTMLVillage.com. This was primarily my wife's venture as she is the more creative of the two of us. I was involved with computer hardware sales at that time.

In 2000 we made the hardware sales business official with the advent of Green Olive Tree Computers. GOT-Computers.com was our first site, and it is still live today (but it is no longer being updated or advertised.) Within a few months, we had garnered a fair number of design clients, and we moved into hosting reselling. We did this for a while, but after about 6 months of reselling, it was becoming more and more evident that we should branch out into our own servers. I have had computer experience dating back to the old Tandy Model I days, and Linux experience for a number of years, so it seemed a natural fit.

But, where did "Green Olive Tree" come from? Green Olive Tree came about after much discussion about what we wanted the name of the company to be. We wanted something that meant something, that showed that we stood for honesty and integrity. Something that spoke to our beliefs, without being overt and "In your face" with our faith. We felt it important that our faith be known, but not that we were selling off of it. My wife came up with it. It comes from Psalm 52:8 which reads:

"But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever." - Psalm 52:8 (NKJV)
